London-based pop-rockers The Mars Patrol embark upon a tour with a twist this May. The six-piece band will strip down their sound for a UK-wide acoustic tour in promotion of new single 'Shake It Up' which is free to download from their website (www.themarspatrol.com). The band join Canadian friends Cherry Suede to play 8 dates beginning in Birmingham tomorrow night. The tour has been put together entirely through facebook, adding a personal tone to the dates with both bands meeting with fans and attendees online before the shows themselves. The Mars Patrol's singer Davina Divine said "The tour will be very intimate, not just because of the stripped down sound, but also because of the facebook campaign. It will feel like playing to friends in each city, even though we haven't yet met."

The tour comes at a busy time for the Patrollers following the recent release of their EP 'Landline', sold-out shows in both Edinburgh and Manchester and the announcement of their appearance on the BBC Introducing Stage at T in the Park festival in Scotland this July.
