Dannii Minogue was rushed to hospital with 'extreme' stomach pains this weekend.

The Australian singer was in so much agony she was taken to a West London clinic and operated on two hours later, after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis on Saturday (23.04.11).

The 'X Factor' judge has since been recovering in hospital under 24-hour surveillance and was allowed to return home on Wednesday (27.04.11).

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Dannii had an onset of extreme pain at the weekend and was rushed to hospital.

"The doctors managed a quick diagnosis so it was decided she should have her appendix taken out there and then.

"They managed to operate on her very soon after she arrived so she was out of the woods quickly. But obviously it was a huge shock to her system and she spent several days recovering.

"She has now been discharged from hospital and is at home resting."

Danni, 39 - who has a nine-month-old son Ethan with Kris Smith - has had to cancel some meetings for her Project D fashion range and is relying on her boyfriend to help her as she recovers.

The source added: "Obviously it has been tough as she has baby Ethan to care for her. Kris has been holding the fort."

A spokesman for the star confirmed Dannii had the emergency operation after experiencing pains in her stomach and said she "is now convalescing."
