Billy Joel has decided he doesn't want the world to know about his past.

The singer has cancelled his autobiography, The Book of Joel, which was due to be published on June 14 via HarperCollins. The book reportedly delved into his marriage to Christie Brinkley, past addictions and other aspects of his life.

Joel issued a statement to the AP saying that it took writing the book to realize he's not interested in talking about his past.

Update: It appears that Billy pulled the memoir at the last second after it was completely edited, taking HarperCollins by surprise. Roger Friedman of Showbiz411 theorizes that the decision came after Joel read the final version of the edited copy and found his admissions too revealing and would carry too many repercussions.
