As part of his `National Cancer Strategy` UK tour Jinx Lennon will finally arrive in Glasgow for his first ever Scottish show. This is a man known to swap between acoustic guitar, Electronic gizmos, Megaphones and even do a full 180 and leave even his microphone on the ground as he preaches his gripping social commentary to the shock and awe of the audience.
He has made many fans and enemy's over the course of his career so far, Mocking those intent on causing trouble in his home country with songs such as `Balaclava Boys` and `Get the Guards` his new album `Trauma Themes Idiot Times` is arguably his best work yet. From the spoken word atmosphere of `My Head is slowly Disappearing up my own Arse` to the insanely catchy and raucous `Everyone has a Mental Home Inside their Head` it sums up life in modern day Ireland in a way that can relate to everyone up and down the UK.
The topics he speaks of can sometimes leave you feeling uncomfortable yet all the better, stronger and wiser for it. The lyrical prowess paints pictures and takes no prisoners. This is especially evident on `Protect Thyself and Thy Home` which is an extreme slant on what Jinx would do if he found someone breaking into his home with the intent to rob and murder him. He says it best near the end of his alnum when he says `If its not awkward and real I wont do it`
The music is beautifully balanced with sultry backing female vocals and anything from a fiddle to a techno beat. It`s the Irish Arab Strap with words that would make the most fearless of gangsta rappers say `He didnt just say what I think he did.. Did he?`
It promises to be an interesting night for the man dubbed "a cross between Johnny Cash,Joe Strummer, and Ian Paisley" by Keith Allen at Q Magazine and the man The Irish News called "One of the most refreshingly fearless and relevant songwriters in Ireland"
The night kicks off at 7.30pm at the 13th note on Wednesday 10th November. Support comes from U.S singer/ songwriter Robert Sarazin Blake, The Girobabies and Roscoe Vacant and the screichin gants.
