Monkees singer Davy Jones has been working on getting his made-for-TV band back together for a tour.

“We’re talking about doing a tour next year with The Monkees,” theimproper.com reports Jones as saying. “There’s talk about a show with dialogue.”

The 64 year old added: “My thing is I just don’t want to get on stage with a bunch of old guys,”

It’s a different tone from the comment Jones made a year ago about a reunion: “It’s not a case of dollars and cents. It’s a case of satisfying yourself. I don’t have anything to prove. The Monkees proved it for me.”

Fans shouldn’t hold their breath for too long though. In 2008, Monkees drummer Micky Dolenz had spoken of a possible reunion of the band, which never happened.

The band were assembled in 1966 for the TV show The Monkees and later went on to sell millions of albums around the world.
