Last week Mary Bale threw her cat in a wheelbin. The world watched in disbelief and animal rights groups protested feverishly. Now Scottish alt rock group The Girobabies have said instead of animal cruelty pet owners should `Immortalise their pets forever` by adding them to the credits of their upcoming album .
Lead guitarist John Hayze said “ I used to have a sheepdog called Shep. He had one blue eye, One green eye and a limp. Sometimes he used to eat my dinner and sh*t on the carpet but at no point did I ever consider putting it in a wheelybin. I loved Shep. He was my best friend. He went missing one day and never returned and it makes me sick to the stomach to think that someone like Mary Bale could have harmed him in any way”
The Girobabies started a campaign last week to offer anyone who bought their limited edition `Social Not Working` C.D from their bandcamp page a chance to appear on the credits but since the public outrage against the middle-aged HSBC worker being caught on camera they are now offering the buyer the chance to name their pets on the credits sleeve too.
“We wanted to thank everyone who supported independent music by including their name on the follow up as its them who are funding us to go into the studio and record the music. So it would be great to see a few of our fans pets names on the credits. A shep here, A Rex there and a Garfield in amongst the band members and producers has a nice ring to it”
The band who have rose to fame recently by stunning festival appearances and radio plays from the likes of Paul Heaton and Jim Gellatly will go into the studio next month to record the as-yet-unnamed album. “We may even name the album after a fan`s animal” added John Hayze. You can stream and buy `Social Not Working` from http://thegirobabies.bandcamp.com on limited edition CD or digital bundles (Both come with exclusive bonus material) You can also catch the band at Live at Troon this weekend and Rock the Boat on September 25th.
