Acca Dacca singer admits his recent brush with cancer was terrifying.
AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson has been talking to New Zealand radio station The Rock about his recent cancer scare. The early diagnosis of Barrett’s Syndrome lead to the cancellation of a few shows on the band’s mammoth Black Ice Tour.
“I found out I had Barrett's Syndrome and the next step is cancer of the esophagus, then they have to take the voice box out, which stopped me right in my tracks," said Johnson. "I was very lucky we caught it in time… I was the most scared I've ever been in my life — I didn't sleep for a week."
The singer also talked about the 30th anniversary of Bon Scott’s death (February 18, 1980).
“We want it to be respectful. His two nephews and his brother will be in Perth, and we'll see his mum. I'm sure the fans will be out in force with Bon paraphernalia and we welcome that because he's still a part of the band, he's still a part of us."
As previously reported, speculation surrounds the possibility AC/DC will play the ‘Back in Black’ album – the band’s tribute to Bon Scott - in its entirety for their headline performance at this year’s Download Festival.
