Rock band The Motorpool have called in the police after thieves took off with a copy of their top-secret new album X-ray Eyes. The CD - to be released on Monday 18th October - was stolen during a band outing in the South of London. Lead singer Billy fears it will now appear on the internet where it could be downloaded illegally - costing the band and the record company tens of pounds in lost revenue. The band has already seen one of their singles up for sale on eBay just weeks after its release.
The Motorpool were buying lottery tickets for the Saturday Roll-over when they realised the CD had gone missing. Police were immediately called to J.Patel's Newsagents but they failed to turn up.
The Motorpool's record company, Battenburg Records expressed concern over the incident, stressing the band failed to actually buy any lottery tickets in the ensuing mêlée.
Battenburg Records spokesman, Rob Leonard said: "The band is so excited about the release of the new album, and we're very keen to be in next weeks draw. If you're not in it you can't win it!"
Guitarist James who has a flat just off Brixton Hill said: "A large slice of two years' work lifted via a piece of round plastic. It doesn't seem credible but that's what's just happened to us... and it was my CD."
Billy has described the new album as "39 minutes of aural pleasure"....
