Birmingham to Host Massive Music Festival on Saturday 3rd October
On October 3rd, Birmingham will become the ultimate destination for students and music fans alike as Block Party takes over several streets of Digbeth with its blend of headline acts, DJ’s, super-clubbing and one-of-a-kind street party vibe.
The organisers are claiming "It is a musical explosion of RnB, House, Drum & Bass, Grime, Electro, Indie, Mash-Up and Pop, this party, this Block Party, is the hottest party of 2009"
The main arena will feature major headline acts from the cream of the UK charts, such as The Wombats, Mr. Hudson, Master Shortie and Hadouken, whilst the Bootylicious arena will be serving up a mix of Urban UK all-stars, in the form of Number One artist, Tinchy Stryder, MOBO winner, Chipmunk, Dizzee Rascals tour DJ, DJ Semtex, and UK Funk innovators, Crazy Cousinz, in its warehouse style rave.
The city roads of Digbeth will be blocked off, making way for 10,000 revellers.
For the first time ever, the renowned venues, Air, The Custard Factory and The Rainbow, will join forces and be completely taken over, creating the ultimate inner city festival.
There will be a full funfair, a silent disco (complete with library surroundings), a massive 80’s Ghettoblaster erected in the street, a 3D disco (made famous at this year’s Glastonbury), a wet foam party, rock karaoke and an extreme Skate showcase, making Block Party the absolute mother of all parties.
The Block Party team will be putting on ‘Block Party Buses’ from over seventy University campuses (within a 2 and a half hour radius), all over the UK, including Cambridge, Leeds, Liverpool, Oxford, Wolverhampton and York, ensuring students get to the event and back safely and without worrying about travel.
