Tickets now on sale for THE OFFICIAL SOUNDCLASH CHAMPIONSHIPS LONDON 2009 (formerly “The Official UK iPod Battle”) which sees DJs and artists armed with nothing more than their MP3 players and fierce selection skills.
This awesome soundclash takes place at the Bloomsbury Ballroom on Tuesday 9 June, and will be hosted and refereed by Teki Latex (TTC) and Marawa the Amazing (La Clique).
M.I.A. & Friends currently hold the Official Soundclash Champion title.
Who will take the crown in 2009?
8 teams – 8 MP3 players – 3 tournament rounds – 1 fighting cage – 1 decibel meter ...
Two by two, the teams enter the arena and battle head-to-head: 4 tracks per team, from their MP3 players.
As the stakes get higher, so do the screams of the crowd. Judging is simple: the winning team makes the crowd scream loudest. The decibel meter decides. Teams can’t win without digging deep in the crates and thinking outside the box. Expect crazy hype, fancy costumes and high tension.

BACKGROUND
Formerly known as the iPod Battle, the Soundclash began in March 2006. TTC’s Teki Latex and Romain Rock, bored of genre-based parties, decided to create a night where a variety of scenes could share their influences. French club Paris Paris was chosen to host the party. Big-name players including Justice, Para One, Pedro Winter, Dj Medhi, Surkin and Uffie battled head-to-head in the hopes of winning the coveted Soundclash Champion title … So the iPod Battle was born. With success in London, Montreal and Geneva, similar events are planned for Singapore and New Orleans.
March 2007 saw the first UK Soundclash at the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, under the banner of the Official UK iPod Battle.
The teams included: M.I.A & FRIENDS, GUCCI SOUNDSYSTEM & BEN FAT TRUCKER, PEOPLE ARE GERMS & UFFIE, VICE MAGAZINE, and FABRIC LONDON.
