Florence & The Machine abducted their producer

FLORENCE & The Machine have revealed that they kidnapped producer James Ford to work on their debut album.

Ford, who performs with Simian Mobile Disco and the Last Shadow Puppets, worked on Lungs, which is released in July.

Singer Florence Welch told the Daily Star newspaper: "I think I scared him. When we first met, my band turned up with a trunk full of fancy dress costumes and kidnapped him.

"We took him to a disused synagogue in Hackney and started banging old pipes to show him the sounds we were after. But he's still alive."
