Maybe it's always standing next to Meg White that's made Jack White look so bloody weedy but the singer allegedly attacked the Von Bondies front man this weekend, sending him to the hospital.
Von Bondies singer/guitarist Jason Stollsteimer alleges that White attacked him Saturday at Detroit's Magic Stick when Stollsteimer refused to speak with him.
After Stollsteimer attempted to ignore White, according to Stollsteimer's police report, the White Stripes singer/guitarist allegedly threw him to the floor and punched him seven times.
Stollsteimer was admitted to hospital and treated for a black eye and bloody nose, then released.
"White approached Stollsteimer during the concert, physically forcing him against the speakers, and began shouting," a statment by the Von Bondies' management reads. "Stollsteimer attempted to turn his head [to] face White but refused to engage in conversation. Visibly angered by Stollsteimer's unwillingness to argue or fight, White spat into Stollsteimer's face and punched him in the head and face repeatedly. White then forced Stollsteimer to the ground and continued his attack until White was restrained by several crowd members."
Stollsteimer filed a complaint against White, which may result in misdemeanor assault charges. White, who filed his own complaint, alleges he fought back in self defense after the Von Bondie got physical with him.
Neither The White Stripes nor its management has commented upon the altercation.
