On February 10, 2009, seminal NYC house music label Nervous Records rings in the New Year (thats 18 years in business!) by combing through the vaults and offering a new twist on some of clublands biggest hits. The newest volume in its popular Nervous Nitelife series pits the young and talented DJ/producer Marlon D and is his all-star line-up of remixers against classics from the likes of Kim English, Joi Cardwell, Masters At Work, Kerri Chandler and Byron Stingly, Danny Krivit and Josh Wink.
Nervous Nitelife series: House Classics Remixed isnt just another disposable house music compilation it offers a lot more. This is a look in to house music history. Founded in 1991 by dance music visionary Michael Weiss, Nervous Records played a major role in developing the global dance music scene. Nervous releases including Sandy Bs 1992 hit Feel Like Singin, Winx 1993 smash Dont Laugh, Nuyorican Souls first ever track The Nervous Track, Byron Stingilys top 10 UK pop hit Get Up Everybody, Charlottes Skin, Jonahs Ssst
Listen and Ralph Falcons 2007 #1 Billboard smash I Need Someone were just some of the big tracks that shaped club music throughout the years. In 2008, Nervous Records had two of the most played club records at radio in the US - Bellatrax featuring Sophia May I Can't Help Myself and Ercola featuring Daniella Every Word. The label also put a face to a largely anonymous house music genre thanks to its iconic Nervous Guy logo that became the face of an entire generation.
Michael Weiss didnt have to look far to find a talented new artist to add some freshness to this classics project. NYC DJ / producer Marlon D has been making name for himself on the local scene for nearly 10 years due to his affiliation with Underground Collective; an underground dance event that went on to become a huge success for the deep soulful house scene and a NYC staple. Marlon D also works closely with the legendary Jellybean Benitez as an in house artist on Jellybeans Label and by helping to create a party called Aint Nuthing But A House Party (viewed as one of NYCs best underground soulful dance parties.) This monthly party is held on a monthly basis and features Marlon D and Jellybean Benitez as resident DJs.
Nervous Nitelife: House Classics Remixed presents the many flavors of Nervous Records in a package that works on the modern dancefloor. Marlon D personally hand selected the remixers for this project (Fanatix, Kenny Dope, Alix Alvarez, Manoo, 83 West) and he takes great care in placing these precious gems in a mix that burns fire. Its simply an unmissable collection for long time house music aficionados or fans looking to discover the building blocks of the scene.
Nervous Nitelife: House Classics Remixed is released February 10, 2009 on Nervous records.
