BT today revealed the nominations for the annual BT Digital Music Awards.

Competition for the 19 award categories is fiercer than ever – with Kylie Minogue and Bloc Party leading the way with three nominations each, both Coldplay and Radiohead are nominated for two awards.

The Hoosiers, Alphabeat, Kylie, Sam Beeton and The Ting Tings fight it out for Best Pop Artist. Wiley, Akala, Beardyman, M.I.A. and Roots Manuva are up for Best Urban Artist; with Bloc Party taking on Coldplay, Ida Maria, Radiohead and The Futureheads for Best Rock/Indie Artist.

Other awards include Best Radio Station, Best Music Store and Best Music Magazine.

Perhaps the most sought after award is Artist of the Year, which last year was won by Funeral For A Friend. This year Kylie, Coldplay and Radiohead will battle it out with Leona Lewis and British Sea Power for the coveted award.

This past year has seen newspaper headlines dominated by British music artists making good use of digital with Radiohead launching their album ‘In Rainbows’ as a ‘pay what you like’ download experiment and Coldplay releasing ‘Violet Hill’ as a free, download-only single.

The awards will be held at Camden’s Roundhouse on Wednesday 1st October. Fans will be able to catch all the action when the awards are broadcast on ITV2 on 7th October, if you’re not in don’t forget to set BT Vision to record.

Matthew Dearden, marketing director BT Consumer comments, “Digital has established itself as a force to be reckoned within the music industry and the BT Digital Music Awards are reflecting this with one of our strongest, most exciting line up of nominees yet. We’re looking forward to seeing who the winners will be on October 1st.”
