Nike today unveiled Moby, Pendulum and Carl Craig as the much anticipated acts who will perform live at Wembley Stadium to kick start the Nike+ Human Race on 31 August. The world’s largest running and music event will see up to one million runners, from 25 cities across the globe competing in a 10k race.
The announcement comes as registration officially opens today, 16/06/08, for all runners keen to take part. Also revealed was the much anticipated race route. Runners will start the race from the pitch of England’s most iconic sporting and entertainment venue, Wembley Stadium, before hitting the streets of Wembley to experience true urban running. As runners race around the course they will be motivated by music played from mini stages featuring iTunes commissioned new bands. Runners will cross the finish line at 'Olympic Way' running the final 100 metres in view of the famous Wembley Arch.
The GB team, captained by Paula Radcliffe, will be treated to a live music concert with bestselling DJ and singer-songwriter, Moby, before starting the race at 7pm. Band of the moment Pendulum, along with Detroit born DJ, Carl Craig, will also join the line-up at Wembley. Similar live gigs will take place in all 25 competing race cities around the world to energise and entertain runners before the race.
Those who live outside London can represent their country via nikeplus.com, by taking part in the Nike+ Virtual Human Race. Runners can simply use Nike+ iPod or the new Nike+ SportBand to track their kilometres on race day and then download their run on nikeplus.com to have their results officially counted as part of the race.
