Fontaines D.C. have reached an astonishing new career peak following the release of their fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber. Released on 16th October via XL Recordings, the new record has taken the global music scene by storm, debuting at No. 1 in eight countries, including the UK, Ireland, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, and Luxembourg. In the UK, the album impressively registered the third-biggest opening week on the Official Albums Chart this year.
The band’s global momentum extends well beyond these top spots. Dopamine Chamber hit No. 2 in six additional major markets—Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, New Zealand, and Austria—while securing No. 3 in France and No. 4 in Denmark and Poland. Across the Atlantic, the group achieved their highest-ever Billboard 200 ranking, entering at No. 14. This marks a massive leap from the No. 97 peak of 2024’s Romance, while also claiming the No. 1 spot on both the U.S. Independent Albums and Vinyl Albums charts.
Comprising Grian Chatten, Carlos O’Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan, and Tom Coll, the group has consistently evolved since their 2019 debut Dogrel. Moving past A Hero’s Death, the chart-topping Skinty Fia, and the vibrant Romance, Dopamine Chamber stands as their most radical artistic departure yet. Produced alongside James Ford across London, the English countryside, and Palermo—where Chatten recorded vocals inside a makeshift booth constructed from mattresses—the 11-track collection features high-profile collaborations, including track "Where Is Gone?" featuring Rosalía.
Critical acclaim for the record has been unanimous. Outlets worldwide have lauded the release, with The Guardian praising their dramatic growth into the best band of their generation, and NME hailing them as the definitive band of the decade. The Times and Rolling Stone further echoed these sentiments, celebrating the record's bold songwriting and sonic expansion.
Currently on a massive global tour through Europe, the group is set to play Berlin tonight before heading through Scandinavia, Europe, India, Japan, Australia, the Americas, and major summer stadium dates through 2027.
