UK rap icon Giggs joined Capital XTRA Breakfast hosts Shayna Marie and Robert Bruce to reflect on his career and announce a major December show at London’s OVO Arena Wembley. During the broadcast, the Peckham artist revealed the unexpected origins of his iconic track Talking the Hardest, admitting that half of the song was written while he was walking to meet a secret lover.
Reflecting on the era when the UK rap anthem was created, Giggs candidly shared details about his lifestyle and mindset at the time. "That time, I was living with ML's mum and at that time I was moving mad. Affairs and all that," Giggs explained during the interview. "I wasn’t ready to grow up. I was a good dad, but I was still outside—one of those ones. Young, gangster, and I wrote Talking the Hardest walking to a next ting’s house."
Giggs further revealed that the iconic track was split across two distinct locations during its creation. "I wrote half of it at ML’s mum’s house, our house, and I wrote the other half walking," he told the Capital XTRA presenters.
When asked by co-host Shayna Marie about what content dominates his social media feed, the rapper brought plenty of humor to the studio. Discussing his Instagram Explore page, Giggs joked about the algorithm's recommendations: "I’m a man, it’s baddies on there! It’s not my fault, I don’t know why it’s there."
Giggs remains one of the most influential figures in British hip-hop, with Talking the Hardest widely regarded as a genre-defining staple of UK rap history. His upcoming headline concert at the OVO Arena Wembley in December marks a major milestone performance for the veteran artist, bringing his extensive catalog of fan favorites to one of London's largest indoor venues.
