PETA has sent an official letter to Omega Auctions asking for 43 Elswick Street, the Liverpool house where Sir Paul McCartney first learned to play the guitar, to be donated to the animal protection group. With the property set to go under the hammer, PETA aims to transform the historic home into a dedicated museum celebrating the music legend's lifelong advocacy for animals and the planet.

In the letter, PETA highlights how McCartney has spent decades using his global music platform, voice, and influence to encourage environmental stewardship and kindness toward animals.

As a committed vegetarian, McCartney famously declared, "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian". Alongside his daughters Mary and Stella, he has carried forward the legacy of his late wife, Linda, through impactful global initiatives such as Meat Free Monday, inspiring millions worldwide to leave animals off their plates.

"Transforming this house into a museum would give visitors the chance to discover where Paul McCartney's remarkable musical journey began and how he has used his extraordinary platform to make the world a kinder place," writes PETA Vice President Elisa Allen. She added that the property where McCartney first picked up a guitar could now carry another one of his defining core messages: compassion for all animals and care for our shared planet.

McCartney's extensive work with the animal rights organization includes narrating PETA's landmark Glass Walls documentary, donating his track "Looking for Changes" to active campaigns against animal experimentation, and successfully persuading major high-street coffee chains to stop charging customers extra for plant-based milk options.

PETA—whose core motto reads in part that "animals are not ours to abuse in any way"—points out that when it comes to the universal ability to feel pain, hunger, and thirst, a pig is a dog is a boy. The organization hopes the auction house will consider the proposal to turn the legendary Beatles site into a beacon of compassion.
