Stockport five-piece Blossoms have plenty to celebrate as their latest studio release, Songs From The Wedding Cake, lands atop the Official Albums Chart today. The achievement marks the group's fifth Official Number 1 album, joining their self-titled 2016 debut, Foolish Loving Spaces (2020), Ribbon Around The Bomb (2022), and Gary (2024) in an extraordinary collection of UK chart-toppers.
To claim the summit, Blossoms fended off legendary competition. Not even The Beatles could stop the band from taking the top spot, with the Fab Four finishing at Number 2 with their seminal 1965 album Rubber Soul, more than six decades after its original release.
Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, Blossoms expressed their gratitude: “We’re made up. To still be doing this 10 years on from our first album, and to still be getting to Number 1, isn’t something we take for granted. Thank you to everyone who bought it, played it or told a mate about it. See you on tour.”
In addition to topping the main chart, Songs From The Wedding Cake also claims the top spot on the Official Record Store Chart. Meanwhile, The Beatles' Rubber Soul reigns supreme on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, shifting more copies on wax than any other record over the past seven days.
Elsewhere on the chart, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr celebrates his second solo Top 5 album as The Age Of Everything debuts at Number 5, following the success of 2022's Fever Dreams Pts 1-4. South London seven-piece Fat Dog earn their highest-charting album to date with Cancel Me (I'm Tired) debuting at Number 13, while Drake's HABIBTI re-enters the Top 20 at Number 20 following the release of an expanded edition. The top five is completed by Olivia Rodrigo at Number 3 with You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In and Michael Jackson's The Essential holding steady at Number 4.
