The Beatles aim to take Rubber Soul back to the summit of the Official Albums Chart, exactly six0 years on from its last triumphant appearance at the top. The legendary 1965 classic is currently leading the mid-week race following the release of an expansive special edition that has captured the imagination of music lovers nationwide.

This newly enriched reissue brings together 24 early session recordings, including 20 previously unreleased takes and three captivating home demos. Fans have been particularly excited to discover early versions of timeless classics like Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out, alongside a rare, previously unheard John Lennon demo titled Little Girl. Upon its original release, Rubber Soul spent a remarkable eight consecutive weeks at Number 1 and marked the band's sixth chart-topping record. It was also recently crowned by the Official Charts as the sixth most-streamed album of the entire 1960s.

Should the Fab Four clinch the top spot, it will be their first chart-topping album milestone since October 2019, when Abbey Road similarly rebounded back to the summit. Holding the record for more weeks at Number 1 than any other act in chart history, the group is once again poised to roll back the years and reign supreme.

However, fierce competition comes from Blossoms, who sit closely behind at Number 2 with their anthemic LP, Songs From The Wedding Cake. Eyeing a fifth career Number 1, the record looks to join a stellar catalogue that includes their self-titled debut, Foolish Loving Spaces, Ribbon Around The Bomb, and Gary.

Meanwhile, former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr is tracking for his highest-charting solo album yet with The Age Of Everything at Number 3, while Fat Dog eyes a personal best and first-ever Top 40 appearance at Number 4 with Cancel Me (I'm Tired).
