London-based four-piece Keo are leading the race for this week’s UK Official Albums Chart with their debut release, Put A Smile On For Me. Having cultivated a dedicated following over the past two years, the band looks set to claim the top spot with an LP exploring themes of love, guilt, and self-destruction.
Keo face strong competition from Southend rockers Nothing But Thieves, who hold the Number 2 spot with their fifth studio album, Stray Dogs. The band are seeking consecutive Number 1 records, having previously topped the chart with Dead Club City in 2023. Taylor Swift follows closely at Number 3 with The Life Of A Showgirl, boosted by the release of its expanded The Encore edition. Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo sits at Number 4 with You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In, and synth-pop icons Soft Cell enter at Number 5 with Danceteria, marking their final album together following Dave Ball’s death last year.
Further down the midweeks, Swedish rock band Europe track toward Number 9 with Come This Madness, which would mark their first UK Top 10 album in 40 years. Alice In Chains are eyeing a Top 40 return with a 30th anniversary reissue of MTV Unplugged at Number 13, while Orbital’s Glastonbury 1994 set targets a Number 14 entry. Australian singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin is set to secure her first Top 40 album with The Gem at Number 18, and Suede’s 1996 record Coming Up re-enters at Number 23 following a 30th anniversary physical release.
Additional prospective Top 40 entries include Nessa Barrett's Tough Love (29), the soundtrack companion to LINKIN PARK: UNSHATTER (30), and Dublin outfit Gurriers with Nobody’s Coming To Save You (31). Blondshell, Kneecap, Tina Turner, and Leon Bridges complete the lower end of the midweek update.
