Pop icon Kylie Minogue returned to her hometown of Melbourne on 26 September 2026 to headline the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment at the 2026 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
Performing before a capacity crowd of over 100,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Minogue delivered a custom 20-minute production featuring updated arrangements, staging, and choreography. The set stands as one of the largest entertainment productions ever staged at an Australian sporting event.
Minogue was joined onstage by a lineup of special Australian guest performers. Multi-instrumentalist G Flip provided an electric guitar feature for "Padam Padam," musician William Barton contributed a melodic interpretation to "Confide In Me," and DJ Dom Dolla debuted a new club mix for "Can't Get You Out Of My Head."
The performance featured custom wardrobe created by long-time collaborators Dolce & Gabbana, spanning three decades of design history with the artist. The production was helmed by musical director Steve Anderson alongside choreographer Ashley Wallen.
The staging featured 40 core stage dancers, 16 performers from the Sydney Dance Company under Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela, and 100 local Melbourne dance students for "The Loco-Motion." Australian comedy duo The Inspired Unemployed made a surprise cameo during the sequence, which also featured a student from Minogue’s former school, Camberwell High, performing as Young Kylie.
The pre-show segment opened with a video piece featuring Minogue reciting the lyrics to Mike Brady’s traditional footy anthem "One Day in September," interwoven into her track "Light Up."
Behind the scenes, a crew of 300 technical and staging personnel executed the show, produced in partnership with the AFL, Minogue's management team, and Mushroom Group. The appearance capped off a week of events across the city, including a 13-story mural painted near Flinders Street Station, a local ST. ALi coffee pop-up, and official pop-up merchandise stores throughout the Grand Final Footy Fest.
