The BBC has announced a suite of multi-platform programming to mark the 20th anniversary of Amy Winehouse’s landmark album Back to Black, featuring world-exclusive broadcasts across television, radio, and digital platforms.
The centerpiece of the tribute is Amy Winehouse: Back to Black at 20 (working title), a filmed recording of the upcoming 20th-anniversary concert taking place at London’s Roundhouse on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. Led by original album producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi alongside The Amy Winehouse Band, the performance features guest vocalists including Jorja Smith, Corinne Bailey Rae, FLO, Lianne La Havas, and Yebba.
BBC Two and BBC iPlayer will broadcast the concert recording in late October as part of a dedicated day of programming honoring Winehouse’s legacy. The coverage includes a dedicated pop-up iPlayer channel streaming archival BBC performances, alongside a slate of retrospective documentaries detailing her career.
On radio, BBC Radio 2 will broadcast the full concert on Monday, 26 October from 7pm to 9pm during Jo Whiley’s evening show. Additionally, the network will re-air Amy Winehouse: Legacy of a Lioness, a two-part documentary featuring reflections from artists including Alexandra Burke, Emeli Sandé, and Jessie Ware.
BBC Radio 6 Music will host a dedicated programming day titled Amy Winehouse Forever on Friday, 23 October. Running from 7am to 9pm, the schedule features contributions from presenters Nick Grimshaw, Deb Grant, Craig Charles, Huw Stephens, and Femi Koleoso. Highlights include archival Maida Vale sessions, guest interviews with musical director Dale Davis and Island Records executive Darcus Beese OBE, and an early-morning 6 Music Artist Collection featuring archival sets from Austin, Texas, and London.
