Trafalgar Releasing and Mercury Studios have officially announced the global theatrical release of OZZY & BLACK SABBATH: BACK TO THE BEGINNING, capturing Ozzy Osbourne’s final live performance and the original Black Sabbath lineup's first reunion in over two decades. The concert film will hit cinemas worldwide starting 28 October 2026 for a limited time, with tickets going on sale on Thursday, 24 September.
The film documents a historic moment in heavy metal history, recorded during a sold-out stadium show at Birmingham’s Villa Park on 5 July 2025—just 17 days prior to Osbourne’s passing. The landmark homecoming event featured a solo set from Ozzy before he reunited on stage with bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for Black Sabbath’s final performance together in the city where heavy metal was born.
Supervised by Sharon Osbourne and musically directed by Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, the concert also featured an all-star lineup of supporting acts and guests, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, and Alice in Chains. Speaking on the event, Tony Iommi called the performance a fitting closure for the band, while Geezer Butler described the overwhelming atmosphere on stage as a tangible wave of pure love.
Directed for the screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce (Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour) with live concert direction by Tim van Someren, the film combines the full concert footage with exclusive behind-the-scenes material and reflections from participating musicians. Engineered specifically for the big screen, the feature will be presented in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound to deliver a fully immersive audio-visual experience.
