Kasabian have emerged victorious in an intense multi-way battle for the top spot on the Official Albums Chart, securing their eighth UK Number 1 album with ACT III. The Leicestershire rock outfit fended off strong midweek competition from rising stars ADÉLA and PRESIDENT to claim the chart crown.
With this latest achievement, Kasabian join an elite group of legendary acts who have earned eight UK Number 1 albums, including Oasis, Led Zeppelin, R.E.M., The Killers, and Westlife. The band's impressive run of chart-toppers spans two decades, beginning with Empire in 2006 and continuing through West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009), Velociraptor (2011), 48:13 (2014), For Crying Out Loud (2017), The Alchemist’s Euphoria (2022), Happenings (2024), and now ACT III. Beyond the main chart victory, ACT III also landed at Number 1 on the Official Record Store Chart after selling the most physical copies in independent music shops across the country.
Slovakian singer-songwriter ADÉLA finished close behind, earning the runner-up spot with her debut record PRIMA.
Meanwhile, mysterious alternative act PRESIDENT finished at Number 5 with their maiden album Blood Of Your Empire, which simultaneously topped the Official Vinyl Albums Chart as the week's best-selling record on wax.
Further down the chart, Liverpool singer-songwriter Jamie Webster secured his fourth consecutive Top 10 album as Running Round The Sun entered at Number 10. Ellie Goulding made her return with I Know Too Much at Number 16, while Dexys Midnight Runners earned their eighth Top 20 entry with LOVE at Number 20. Natalie Imbruglia reached Number 22 with Algorithm, marking her seventh Top 40 project, and former Thin Lizzy frontman Ricky Warwick claimed Number 28 with Fire & Vengeance.
Oasis also experienced a notable chart surge following cinema screenings of their new documentary and rumors of upcoming live dates, with greatest hits collection Time Flies… (1994-2009) jumping to Number 15 and classic album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? rising to Number 24.
