Dolly Parton's sister, Stella, has revealed the singer's final request.
Stella Parton has opened up about the country music icon's death in an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings.
She spoke of how faith played a big part in Dolly's life as her health declined, saying that Dolly asked for "prayers" in her final days.
"I know she was at peace," Stella said in the interview. "She knew where she was goin'. She wasn't goin' anywhere bad. She was going to be with Mama and Daddy."
She spoke of how Carl's death had affected her, but said she didn't believe that's why she became ill. "I know their relationship was very unique and very deep and loyal. And I think it broke her heart to see him in the shape he, you know, got to before he passed away," she said. "But I don't think that's what made her sick. I think my sister worked so hard for so long and just kept going. You know, even to the last conversation I had with her, she was working. That was her passion."
Stella said she never saw her sister without makeup "after she got to be Dolly Parton," telling how she "would sleep in her makeup when she'd come spend the night with me." She added, "Oh, I knew what she looked like, of course! Because she looked like me without her makeup, so I knew what she looked like without it."
