The Spice Girls have sparked comeback speculation.
On Wednesday, a teaser video was posted to the iconic girl group's Instagram page with the caption, "10.09.2026 | 2pm BST."
The footage, which features the 1996 song Wannabe as the soundtrack, opens with the camera panning up the steps of London's St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, where they filmed the track's music video.
The camera then closes in on an advertisement in a trade paper titled The Stage, the same publication that ran the original ad seeking artists for an all-female group in 1994.
"R U a Spice Girls fan with the ability to sing and dance? R U a superfan, a collector, a music lover? Spice Girls are a widely successful, global, choreographed, singing/dancing all female pop act with a record nine number ones in the UK and over 100 million global sales," the ad reads. "No sheet music required. But you will need a vinyl or CD player."
Eagle-eyed fans also noted that the phone number in the ad, "(1009) 061126," may also be a clue, as the Spice Girls' debut album, Spice, was released in November 1996 and will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year.
The Spice Girls, originally comprised of Mel B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham, are the best-selling girl group in history.
The Who Do You Think You Are hitmakers released their third and final album, Forever, in November 2000, before going on an indefinite hiatus to focus on solo careers.
Mel B, Mel C, Emma, and Geri most recently went on a reunion tour in 2019, with Victoria opting out to focus on her fashion label.
In 2022, the designer also insisted she wouldn't reunite with her former bandmates for any live shows.
"There isn't going to be a reunion," she stated during an appearance on the Today show. "What I mean is, I'm so thankful for the (Spice) Girls, and the fans, and the amazing career that we all had. But I think that I'm so into what I'm doing, fashion and beauty and the children."
