Directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace appeared on Radio X’s The Chris Moyles Show to discuss their forthcoming documentary, Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, detailing the behind-the-scenes reality of capturing Liam and Noel Gallagher’s reunion.
Speaking on air, the filmmakers revealed that capturing the brothers' first meeting in 15 years required setting up rigged remote cameras inside the rehearsal space to avoid intruding on the moment. The directors spent six hours inside a un-airconditioned portacabin monitoring the footage on monitors to ensure the band felt as comfortable as possible during their initial rehearsals.
"Our whole approach was to be invisible," Southern explained during the broadcast. "We rigged 12 to 14 cameras in the room and just left them to film. We had to hide in a portacabin for the whole summer during a heatwave. They didn’t see a single member of crew or us; we got there before they arrived and left after they left."
The directors conducted individual interviews with Liam and Noel prior to rehearsals, mid-tour, and near the end of the run, before bringing them together for a joint interview toward the conclusion of the tour once momentum had built.
