As the summer season comes to a close, Spotify has revealed its official 2026 Songs of Summer selection, curated by the platform's global editorial team. The five-track list highlights the songs that defined the Northern Hemisphere across the past few months, selected based on streaming data, cultural impact, and editorial insight.
Ariana Grande earned the top spot as the most-streamed song of the summer with her single "hate that i made you love me". Fresh off her Eternal Sunshine Tour, Grande’s track debuted at No. 1 globally on May 29, spending 22 days at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Chart and 89 days in the Global Top 10. The success of the single propelled Grande past the 100 million monthly listener milestone on the platform this August.
Joining Grande on the global list is country singer Ella Langley with "Choosin' Texas", which spent 70 days at No. 1 in the US and 98 days in the Global Top 50. The track crossed international borders to become one of the most-streamed songs in the UK this season.
UK listeners embraced Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s collaboration "Rein Me In", which spent 75 days at No. 1 across the UK and Ireland. The track reached a global peak of No. 63 following Dean’s performance alongside Fender at Lollapalooza.
Latin-Afrobeats collaboration "Dai Dai" by Shakira and Burna Boy served as a key soundtrack for the summer, charting across 102 markets and spending 37 days at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Charts. The track achieved its highest streaming day on July 20 following the World Cup Final, helping Shakira surpass 100 million monthly listeners.
Completing the list is Yung Miami’s solo breakthrough "Spend Dat", which saw a 200 percent surge in daily streams over the season, driving her monthly listeners on Spotify from 1.6 million in May to 6.3 million by August.
