Dolly Parton's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been vandalised.
One week after the Jolene singer's death, repair work is underway at the site, which was reportedly damaged by an unknown person who scratched over the singer's name.
Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said the star, which became the site of a large memorial of flowers, cards and other tributes following Parton's death at age 80, had been cleared in anticipation of repair work by the Hollywood Historic Trust, ABC News reported.
Martinez further explained that Parton's star was on a list of those set to undergo repair work due to cracks. But after the star was cleared to make way for the work, somebody had vandalised it with scratches.
A fan posted a video on social media on Monday showing the damage and revealing that someone at the scene had told her the dark scratches were due to someone kicking over candles that had been left there.
The Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains and repairs all the stars on Hollywood Boulevard, wrote on Instagram that it is "proud to honour the legacy of Dolly Parton with a replacement of her star. The new star will be available for viewing this Friday."
Parton received her star on the Walk of Fame in 1984.
