Bret Michaels has broken his silence after cancelling his tour dates for the rest of the year.
The Poison frontman, who underwent emergency surgery to treat kidney stones last month, returned to the stage in Georgia on Friday, after which his medical team ruled that he needed several months off to rest and recover from his recent procedures.
Breaking his silence on Sunday, the 63-year-old, who has Type 1 diabetes, told his followers that he was working with his team to address his health issues.
"As you know, I always choose victory over being a victim to my disease. I truly felt I would be able to do all these shows in spite of the recent medical domino effect that has occurred," he wrote on Instagram.
"Right now, I've worked diligently with my doctors and physical therapists (who have been beyond incredible) on Saturday, today and will again on Monday, adjusting all the new medication and factoring in what I did not the other day, which was the heat factor in Awesome Atlanta, and, as it was my first show back and I wanted to give every ounce of energy I had in me..."
The rock musician explained that he also forgot to factor in the coast-to-coast flight and its effect on his blood sugar and blood pressure, considering his "new medicine adjustments".
Michaels added that he was "truly upset" to miss The Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on Saturday and vowed to return in 2027 or 2028 and "make it the best show ever".
"You've gotta know that my energy and my soul really want to play music," he concluded. "Hopefully, I will get this figured out much sooner than later. If I could, I would be back out there tomorrow. Sincere love to all...stand strong, rock on and remain Unbroken!"
