Bret Michaels has cancelled all his upcoming shows after emergency kidney stone surgery.
Eight gigs, including various North American festivals and other stops on Michaels' Live and Amplified tour, have been scrapped.
The news comes despite the Poison frontman attempting to carry on with his schedule at a show in Georgia on Friday night.
"Following Bret Michaels' comeback show at The Bowl at Sugar Hill, doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he still needs additional rest and recovery from his recent surgeries," Michaels Entertainment Group wrote in a Facebook statement on Saturday.
They noted that the musician "will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to 100%".
Doctors for the rocker added in the statement that they "will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being".
"He wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead, especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels."
Michaels told fans in the comments thread that there are "not enough words to tell you how much your incredible messages mean to me".
In January, a 40th anniversary Poison tour was scrapped due to the Every Rose Has Its Thorn singer's alleged request to be paid six times the amount his bandmates would receive for the shows.
