Lily Allen has apologised for branding radio DJ Edith Bowman a "trollop" in a scathing MySpace post around two decades ago.
The British hitmaker has addressed her past comments about the Scottish radio DJ and TV presenter, admitting that Edith is the one person she would most want to apologise to.
Lily made the remarks in a 2006 MySpace post, mocking Edith's enthusiasm on the radio and taking aim at her alleged claim that she was "BESTEST friends" with anyone in a band.
During a new interview with Perfect Magazine, the Smile hitmaker was asked who she would apologise to if she could pick one person.
"I called Edith Bowman a trollop in one of my very early MySpace posts, for absolutely no f**king reason, and I apologise," she confessed.
In the original post, Lily complained about being "rudely awoken" by Edith on the radio "warbling on about how she is just BESTEST friends with just about anyone, so long as they are in a band and preferably wearing skinny jeans and stripey cardigans, and how the Magic Numbers are just absolutely brilliant, AGAIN".
Edith later found out about the offending post and confronted the Not Fair singer about it during an interview at the T in the Park festival in Scotland.
"When Lily Allen was just coming out, she was not very nice and put something on MySpace about me and then got to number one," Edith told students at Glasgow University at the time.
"I remember I had to interview her," she continued. "It was raining and she was in a poncho and prom dress and trainers. I went up and said, 'Hello, what's the problem? What have I done to offend you?'"
Edith revealed that Lily then apologised for "lashing out".
"She just kind of said, 'I'm the type of person who speaks before I think and I was sat there every day listening to Radio 1 and waiting for you to play my record and I just lashed out. I am sorry,'" the radio DJ recalled.
