Becky G's collaboration with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco felt "surreal".
The 29-year-old singer teamed up with the pair on new track Te Olvido (La La) and she's now revealed the project came about by accident after she created the song and she felt thrilled to hear her voice alongside Selena's in the final edit.
Becky G told Rolling Stone: "It's just everything. I was trippin'. The Gomez girls, finally! She's the sweetest.
"And I've known Benny for so long now, which is crazy. I remember the day we went into the studio, again, no intention set, just kind of like: 'Let's create and let's see what happens'
"And I feel like it was a few weeks after, the song was so stuck in my head. I literally would wake up like: 'La, la, la la la, la, la, la, la la.'
"And I'd walk around my house, and then I'd text my manager Ben, then I hit Benny, and be like,: 'OK, so what are we gonna do with this song? What's gonna happen with the song?' And it just continued to unfold."
She went on to add: "I remember hearing Sel's verse on it, and hearing our voices together was so surreal. And then we shot our music video.
"And it was so wild, because I shot the EPA music video around the same time.
"Literally it was like a three-day span where we had shot the EPA music video and then we also did our music video. Everybody's like: 'Damn, Becky's really out here. What's going on? Like we wanna know the tea.'
"And I was like: 'I can't say anything!'"
It comes after Becky confessed she doesn't see other female artists as competition.
The singer - who has a particularly close friendship with Karol G - has revealed she hates it when female artists are pitted against each other. Speaking about her relationship with Karol, Becky told CBS Mornings: "We have a beautiful friendship, one I’m really, really thankful for, and one that I think throughout the years, we’ve really earned with one another.
"I think that’s for many, many reasons … through experiences, shared experiences, individual experiences and, of course, an industry that is so quick to pit people against each other."
Becky rubbished the idea that Karol is a rival, insisting she doesn't view other female artists through that lens.
Asked if they're rivals, Becky said: "Absolutely not. No. "I mean, for me, personally, my greatest competition is the person I look at in the mirror every morning, you know? And I know she feels the same way for herself.
"Our goal is to be the best versions of ourselves, and it’s been beautiful to kind of grow up in this friendship as well, and see someone literally just not only break down every door, but also hold it open for others to come through."
