Legendary DJ and producer Carl Cox joined Toby Anstis on Heart Dance Breakfast to reflect on his decades-long career, sharing memories of his early beginnings, iconic club moments, and receiving his OBE. Cox spoke about his special connection to Stone’s classic track "Wish I Didn't Miss You," which he famously played during his legendary residency at Space Ibiza. He recalled intending to bring the singer out for a live performance of the song a couple of years ago before her tragic death, noting that the moment and the record live on forever. He added that hearing Pete Tong’s orchestral rendition of the track continues to pull at his heartstrings.
Looking back at the roots of his career, Cox reminisced about building his vinyl collection in West Croydon during the late 1970s and working his way up through school discos and birthday parties. He revealed that his very first paid gig was playing a wedding all night for £60, though it cost him around £40 just to put on the show.
