Madonna's representative has denied that she was in U.S. President Donald Trump's suite during the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday.
During the match between Spain and Argentina, the camera cut to the VIP box in New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, showing Trump sitting behind bulletproof glass alongside First Lady Melania Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, among others.
The clip went viral as fans began to speculate who was sitting behind Melania Trump. Some users claimed the blonde-haired woman with big sunglasses was Madonna, despite her being a vocal Trump critic and performing in the halftime entertainment at the time.
A representative for the Hung Up singer confirmed to Rolling Stone that she was not in Trump's World Cup suite.
During the final, Madonna opened the first-ever FIFA World Cup Halftime Show with her 2000 hit Music, supported by a troupe of dancers and cameos from Brazilian footballers Ronaldinho and Ronaldo.
The 11-minute set continued with The Muppets performing The White Stripes' hit Seven Nation Army, K-pop band BTS giving a rendition of Dynamite, a cameo from Jason Sudeikis in character as Ted Lasso, Justin Bieber singing a solo acoustic number and Shakira and Burna Boy performing their official World Cup song Dai Dai.
The show concluded with its curator, Chris Martin, and his band Coldplay singing a new song, We Dance, surrounded by children from the PS22 Chorus.
Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 during extra time, becoming World Cup champions for a second time after their 2010 victory.
