Ariana Grande changed the lyrics of her song Thank U Next written about her ex, Ricky Alvarez, while he watched her show.

The singer gave special mention to her former boyfriend during her Eternal Sunshine Tour stop in Austin, Texas.

Instead of singing, "Wrote some songs about Ricky, now I listen and laugh," the 33-year-old sang, "Wrote some songs about Ricky, know he still got my back."

The former couple dated in 2015 before splitting the following year. She released Thank U Next in 2019 and referenced several of her ex-boyfriends, including Alvarez, Big Sean, Pete Davidson and Mac Miller, who died in 2018 of an accidental overdose.

In 2019, Grande revealed how Alvarez felt about being name-checked in the track.

"Ricky loved it. He was proud. But Ricky was like, 'Why did I get the worst line?' And I was like, 'What do you mean?' He was like, 'Everyone else's line is so nice and mine is like, Man f**k him, he's trash.' I was like I could have said that," she said. "I could have said, 'Wrote some songs about Ricky, never mind he's trash.' I was like, 'I could have said that, but I didn't.' I said, 'Now I listen and laugh.' Because it didn't work out."

Grande recently split from Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, after three years together. "It's amicable," a source told US Weekly. "They gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways. They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months."
