Halsey has recalled the time Miley Cyrus made an early exit from her house party after police officers showed up.

During an appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast on Tuesday, the Without Me singer recounted throwing a housewarming bash one night and inviting a bunch of pals.

"The police come... and I'm drunk. They're like, 'We want to talk to the owner of the house.' I'm like, 'Well, I guess that's me 'cause I just bought the house,'" she told co-hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco. "So, I go outside to talk to the police and they're like, 'We got to shut this down.' I'm like, 'No, you don't.'"

Halsey, real name Ashley Frangipane, went on to question the cops over what law she was breaking by having a party at home.

"I don't know what happened to me. I switched on," the 31-year-old continued. "I was like, 'We're operating within the legal sound decibel limit. We're not exceeding fire code. There's no cars parked on the street. And I haven't exceeded the amount of people that I can have in the premises.' I was like, 'So what law am I breaking?' And they were like, 'The law of common sense.' I was like, 'That's not a real law. See you later, officers.'"

And just as the officers were leaving, Halsey saw Miley "running out the door".

"She had a bag of (food delivery from) Postmates in her hand. She's like, 'Got to go, girl. Got to go.' Running away," she laughed.

Earlier in the episode, Halsey likened herself to the mysterious Jay Gatsby from F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby, when she was new to Hollywood.

"I would throw a party, I'd hang out in my bedroom most of the time, and then everyone would leave and I would be like, 'I did it. I socialised and now everybody is going to like me,'" the Closer star added.

Halsey dropped her fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator, in October 2024.
