Oasis inspired The Script’s new album.

Frontman Danny O’Donoghue revealed that the band’s upcoming album, The User’s Guide To Being Human, was inspired by Noel and Liam Gallagher’s reconciliation and reunion gigs last year.

He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I didn’t get to a show but our mates are part of their crew and we share a security guard.

“They were streaming the first show live to me on a phone and it was incredible to see Noel and Liam Gallagher walk out on that stage holding hands. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

“I still don’t think they know how much that resonated with people my age who are still holding grudges on people from back in the day. If those two can get over it, there is a chance for everyone.”

The Crowd Was Singing Wonderwall is the second track on the new album and features the lyrics: “And the crowd was singing Wonderwall, and all the world was beautiful.

“And suddenly we’re back in ’93 before the fights, before the tears, before we haven’t talked in years. But if they can work it out then why can’t we?”

Danny explained how meaningful it was to witness brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher reunite on stage, almost 20 years after Oasis split in 2009 following a bust-up between the pair.

He said: “I’m sure there were a lot of brothers who are now talking to each other again because of that. It was such a special moment. There were grown-a** men crying their eyes out.”

Meanwhile, Danny revealed The Script - which also includes Ben Weaver, Glen Power and Ben Sargeant – is still coming to terms with the death of bandmember Mark Sheehan in 2023, following a short illness.

He said: “He’s still part of the band. If you don’t deal with those feelings sober, you’re just kicking them down the road.

“You never get over the grief but you learn to grow around it.

“But with me getting married last year, I can see there’s things in the future. I’m optimistic.”

The Script – comprised of Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Powell –first shot to fame with their self-titled debut album, featuring the singles We Cry, The Man Who Can't Be Moved, Breakeven and Before the Worst, in 2008.
