Global music icon RAYE has been officially presented with two prestigious Guinness World Records titles in a surprise backstage ceremony. The global authority on record-breaking achievements presented the multi-award-winning singer-songwriter with her official certificates at London's The O2 on Wednesday 20 May 2026, immediately following her acclaimed "This Tour May Contain New Music" performance.
The backstage presentation created a poetic full-circle moment for the London-born artist, returning to the exact venue where she initially rewrote British music history. RAYE was officially recognized for achieving the most BRIT Award nominations in a single year, with seven nominations, as well as the most BRIT Awards won in a single year, walking away with six trophies during the 2024 ceremony.
RAYE's historic run began when she dominated the 44th BRIT Awards shortlist, earning nods for British Album of the Year for her independent debut My 21st Century Blues, alongside nominations for Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Pop Act, Best R&B Act, and Best New Artist. Weeks later, she cemented her legendary status by taking home six awards in one evening, adding the coveted Songwriter of the Year title to her historic haul and marking the most dominant single-year performance by any artist in the history of the BRITs.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Emma Salt praised the singer's extraordinary trajectory, stating that holding both records simultaneously is a remarkable milestone in British music history. Salt noted that it felt incredibly fitting to surprise RAYE at The O2, where fans were actively celebrating her music.
The presentation caps off a landmark chapter for the singer, arriving just ahead of Guinness World Records opening its very first permanent entertainment venue at The O2 later this year. Scheduled to launch in late 2026, the upcoming destination will combine competitive socializing with live record-breaking challenges, allowing visitors to attempt their own official titles. Official imagery from RAYE's historic backstage presentation has been cleared for immediate media usage.
