Jessica Simpson has defended sitting in first class while her children were in coach on a recent flight.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen earlier this month, the singer-actress's ex-husband, Nick Lachey, confirmed he and Jessica were in the "same vicinity" for the first time in 20 years amid a journey to Hawaii.
Nick also revealed that the I Wanna Love You Forever star was sitting in first class with her mother Tina, while Jessica's estranged husband, Eric Johnson, was in a "separate class of service" with their three children: daughters Maxwell, 14, Birdie, seven, and 12-year-old son Ace.
The story quickly began to circulate online, and in a comment to Page Six photographers on Wednesday, the fashion entrepreneur explained what had happened.
"My mom bought those tickets," she commented. "It was my mom's treat for us to go to Hawaii."
Pressed further, Jessica insisted "of course" her family would all be together if she had purchased the plane tickets herself.
In January 2025, the 45-year-old announced that she and Eric, 46, had separated after a decade of marriage.
Meanwhile, the Newlyweds reality TV co-stars were married from 2002 until the divorce was finalised in 2006.
The 98 Degrees singer has been wed to Vanessa Lachey, with whom he shares three children, since 2011.
