Billy Idol will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 American Music Awards (AMAs).

On Thursday, producers from CBS and Dick Clark Productions (DCP) announced that the English rock singer - real name William Broad - will receive the prestigious prize amid the annual ceremony held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on 25 May.

"Billy Idol is being recognised for his incomparable career and body of work, unparalleled contributions to music, and continued influence on generations of artists and fans," they praised. "For almost 50 years, Idol has been one of the defining faces and voices of rock 'n' roll."

Idol, 70, will deliver a medley of some of his biggest hits during the spectacle.

The performance will mark his first time on the AMAs stage since presenting in 2004 and his first AMAs performance ever.

Previous recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award include Diana Ross and Rod Stewart.

In addition, the show will feature performances from International Artist Award of Excellence recipient Karol G, Hootie & the Blowfish, KATSEYE, Keith Urban, Maluma, Riley Green, SOMBR, Teddy Swims, Teyana Taylor, and Twenty One Pilots.

Taylor Swift is set to dominate the AMAs, having landed eight nominations.

The Life of a Showgirl star is followed closely by Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, and SOMBR - all of whom garnered seven nods each.

Queen Latifah has been tapped to host the ceremony.
