The atmospheric beauty of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is set to meet the haunting melodies of post-punk royalty. In an exciting new partnership with Communion ONE, the venue has announced that the legendary Echo & The Bunnymen will headline the opening night of Live Music Week on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
This curated concert series, running from September 22 to September 27, marks a significant moment for the historic outdoor venue. By transforming the theater into a premier concert space, the series aims to celebrate a diverse spectrum of talent, ranging from global icons to the most promising rising stars of the modern era.
Few bands carry the cultural weight of Echo & The Bunnymen. As true pioneers of the post-punk movement, their seminal albums—including Crocodiles, Heaven Up Here, Porcupine, and the masterwork Ocean Rain—laid the sonic blueprint for decades of alternative music. Their dark, swirling textures and frontman Ian McCulloch’s evocative vocals have been cited as major influences by contemporary giants like Coldplay, The Killers, and Garbage.
Far from being a nostalgia act, the band has continued to build an exceptional body of work through the decades with albums like Evergreen, Siberia, and their most recent studio release, 2018’s The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon. This upcoming performance at Regent’s Park is designed as a career-spanning celebration, capturing the band’s "magical" energy at its absolute best.
With more artists for the week-long residency expected to be revealed soon, tickets for the opening night are anticipated to move quickly.
