The battle for the top spot on this week’s Official Albums Chart is heating up, with British stalwart Jack Savoretti currently leading the charge toward his third Number 1 record. Savoretti’s ninth studio LP, We Will Always Be The Way We Were, is showing strong early numbers as it aims to follow the chart-topping success of 2019’s Singing to Strangers and 2021’s Europiana. If he holds his lead, the singer-songwriter will secure a prestigious hat-trick of consecutive UK Number 1 albums.
Stiff Competition from Rising Stars
However, Savoretti’s path to the summit is far from guaranteed. He faces a formidable challenge from Nottingham-born artist Holly Humberstone, whose sophomore effort Cruel World is currently sitting at Number 2. Following the critical acclaim of her 2023 debut, Humberstone is eyeing her first-ever chart-topper, and a late-week surge could see her overtake the lead.
Right behind them is Texan breakout star Ella Langley, whose second studio album Dandelion is holding steady at Number 3. Langley’s chart momentum is bolstered by her recent Singles Chart success; her track "Choosin’ Texas" cracked the Top 20 for the first time just last week, proving her cross-Atlantic appeal is at an all-time high.
Top 10 Shuffles and New Entries
The mid-week data also reveals a strong performance from Icelandic sensation Laufey. Her album A Matter of Time—which originally peaked at Number 3 last September—is set to re-enter the Top 10 at Number 7, fueled by the release of the deluxe ‘The Final Hour’ edition.
Meanwhile, theatrical favorite Alfie Boe is eyeing his seventh solo Top 10 (and 13th overall) with Face Myself (9). Further down the standings:
Bring Me The Horizon are set for a debut at 12 with their ambitious live recording, L.I.V.E. In São Paulo.
Enter Shikari look likely to secure their ninth Top 20 entry with surprise release Lose Your Self (13).
Lime Garden are on track for their first-ever chart entry with Maybe Not Tonight (18).
Finally, Frank Turner is hoping to hit a career milestone; his retrospective Campfire Punkrock 20 is currently at 31, putting him on course for his tenth Top 40 album.
The final positions will be revealed this Friday on the Official Albums Chart.
