Megan Thee Stallion was rushed to hospital after falling ill amid her performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Tuesday night.
Last week, the Savage rapper - real name Megan Pete - kicked off an eight-week run of the show, in which she plays the character of Harold Zidler. The production is staged at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City.
But in a statement, producers announced that Megan was forced to pull out of the performance as she started to feel unwell.
"During Tuesday night's production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated," a spokesperson commented. "We will share additional updates as more information becomes available."
In addition, Megan's hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, asked fans to keep the music star in their thoughts.
"Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital," he posted.
Representatives for the 31-year-old have not yet issued any further details.
Megan is the first female-identifying performer to portray Zidler, the role originated by Danny Burstein, in any Moulin Rouge! The Musical production worldwide.
"Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honour," the Hot Girl Summer star previously declared. "I've always believed in pushing myself creatively and theatre is definitely a new opportunity that I'm excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I'm up for the challenge and can't wait for the Hotties (her fans) to see a new side of me."
Moulin Rouge! The Musical will close on 26 July after seven years on Broadway.
