In a major cinematic event for music history, the legendary Madison Square Garden performances of John Lennon and Yoko Ono are returning to the spotlight. Tickets are officially on sale now for "POWER TO THE PEOPLE: John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band – Live at the One To One Concert, New York City, 1972," which will debut in cinemas worldwide for a limited engagement starting April 29, 2026.
Coinciding with the 57th wedding anniversary of John and Yoko, this release represents the definitive version of the only full-length concerts Lennon performed after the dissolution of The Beatles. This is no mere reissue; it is a meticulous restoration twenty years in the making. Under the leadership of Sean Ono Lennon and a seven-time GRAMMY®-winning team, every frame has been physically and digitally cleaned by hand.
The 2026 version, directed by Simon Hilton and produced by Mercury Studios, features a complete re-edit and a brand-new remix by engineers Paul Hicks and Sam Gannon. Select locations will offer the experience in immersive 5.1 Surround or Dolby Atmos, bringing the raw energy of 1972 New York City into the modern era.
The film captures the electric atmosphere of two sold-out shows where John, Yoko, and the band Elephant’s Memory performed to 40,000 fans. The setlist is a treasure trove of classics, including "Instant Karma!," "Imagine," "Mother," and "New York City." Fans will also see rare live renditions of "Come Together" and "Hound Dog," alongside Yoko’s "Don’t Worry Kyoko." The film features guest appearances by icons such as Stevie Wonder, Sha Na Na, and Melanie Safka-Schekeryk, culminating in a rousing "Give Peace a Chance" encore.
Beyond the music, the One To One concerts were a landmark in activism. The shows raised over $1.5 million (equivalent to $11.5 million today) for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Now, fifty-four years later, that spirit of "Power to the People" returns to the big screen.
