A newly restored concert film capturing George Michael at a pivotal moment in his career is heading to cinemas worldwide later this year.
George Michael Entertainment has announced, in partnership with Mercury Studios and Sony Music Entertainment, that George Michael: The Faith Tour will receive a global theatrical release in 2026.
The never-before-seen film was shot at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the European leg of the Faith Tour in 1988, documenting the period that cemented late music icon George as an era-defining solo artist whose impact still shapes music, fashion and pop culture.
Directed by longtime collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin, the film has been meticulously restored and remastered after being considered lost for decades.
The project brings George’s original vision to the screen with renewed clarity, offering an intimate yet explosive portrait of a 24-year-old artist in complete command of his voice and stage presence.
The film draws from a 14-camera shoot captured on 35mm film across two nights, transforming the archival footage into a full cinematic experience. It aims to recreate the tour as it was meant to be seen and heard, celebrating a moment that shifted the trajectory of George’s career.
The theatrical release will open with Finding Faith, an original short film by Mary McCartney. The piece provides context for the tour’s cultural significance and features George’s own words through voiceover from an unheard interview, alongside unseen images by photographer Herb Ritts and behind-the-scenes footage from the Faith music video.
Alongside the film, George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment will release THE FAITH TOUR, an 18-track live album featuring previously unreleased recordings from the tour. The album includes performances from both his Wham! and solo catalogues, highlighting his vocal power and skill as a live performer. Further details on the album will be announced soon.
George Michael: The Faith Tour will be released in cinemas worldwide later this year, with release dates and territories to follow.
