Lily Allen's friend Miquita Oliver has revealed the singer changed her mind about attending the BRIT Awards at the last minute.

The 40-year-old singer, who was nominated for three awards, surprised fans when she was a no-show at the ceremony at Manchester's Co-op Live arena last weekend.

Her friend, presenter Miquita, revealed on her Miss Me? podcast this week that she was babysitting Lily's daughters Ethel and Marnie, thinking the singer was on her way to the awards show, when the Not Fair hitmaker showed up at her house.

"What was meant to happen was Lily was meant to go, that's why I was babysitting Ethel and Marnie... so it was really nice we were having like a little sleepover under the blankets - and then Lily just f**king walked in the door," Miquita told guest host Jordan Stephens.

"I was like, 'Why aren't you at the BRITs? Why aren't you on your way to Manchester?' But for whatever reason, she decided not to go and we all got under the covers and watched it."

She added, "So in a way it's quite good that she didn't win as I think it would have been slightly surreal if she won Album of the Year while we were sitting on the sofa under a blanket."

Lily was nominated for Artist of the Year, Best Pop Act and Album of the Year for her explosive breakup record West End Girl, but she lost all three prizes to Man I Need singer Olivia Dean.

During the ceremony, Miquita posted a selfie showing her and Lily watching the BRITs on the sofa, with Lily covering up a yawn and flashing the peace sign with her fingers.

At the time, it was reported that the Smile hitmaker opted against attending the show in order to rest her voice before the start of her U.K. tour, which kicked off in Glasgow, Scotland on Monday.

According to Mail Online, the TV personality didn't divulge the reason for her pal's no-show, simply stating, "I don't think it's that deep. She just didn't go."

During the episode, Rizzle Kicks star Jordan declared that Lily "should have won" Album of the Year, and Miquita replied, "I do think she should have Album of the Year. I understand the industry and they wanted to give Olivia Dean that clean sweep, of course, they like to do that."

Lily used to co-host the Miss Me? podcast with Miquita. She stepped back in September to focus on launching West End Girl.
