Kelsea Ballerini has hinted at the reason for her breakup with Chase Stokes.
After fellow country star Ashley Cooke teased her new song about troubled relationships on Instagram, Ballerini made a point of agreeing with the pointed lyrics.
"Don't deny I know you did it / It doesn't matter how you spin it." Cooke sings. "Want me back after that? Forget it / Don't you know crossing lines makes exes."
In the comments section of the post, which Cooke captioned "Crossing lines makes Xs," Ballerini wrote, "Mmmhhhmmm."
Cooke responded, "@kelseaballerini you get it."
The comments came days after multiple outlets reported that the First Rodeo singer and her on-off boyfriend, Outer Banks actor Stokes, had broken up.
Ballerini and Stokes went public with their romance at the April 2023 CMT Awards.
After nearly three years together, People magazine confirmed the pair had split last September. However, they were soon spotted together again in Europe and rekindled their romance, before things appeared to go wrong once more amid a series of cryptic social media posts by Stokes in late November.
The pair confirmed they were back together on New Year's Eve.
"What I'll say," Ballerini posted on social media, "and all I really care to share indefinitely with my personal life anymore, is that I really love love. I believe in it, I believe in him, and I believe in breaking patterns.
