U2's Bono organised for a bagpiper to serenade Dolly Parton as she celebrated her 80th birthday on Monday.
Returning to Instagram on Tuesday, the country music icon posted a video showing Nashville-based Irish musician Patrick D'Arcy walking into a meeting room and playing the Happy Birthday tune for her on the bagpipes.
A colleague also presented a surprised Dolly with a cake featuring the words, "Love... Bono," in iced lettering.
After blowing out the candles, the Jolene hitmaker exclaimed, "Well, thank you, Sir. I saw that cake said, 'From Bono.' So, he must have sent you as a present to me? I appreciate all of you."
"It's a pleasure to be here on behalf of the whole band," replied Patrick, referring to Bono's U2 bandmates -The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.
Dolly then jokingly asked if the With Or Without You hitmakers were trying to call her an "old bag".
"Bono, I know him personally. Good to see you and thank you! That's a surprise, (is Bono) calling me an old bag?" she teased.
And in the accompanying caption, Dolly thanked Bono for making the day "extra special".
"Now that's what you call a surprise! This old bag sure feels the love! Thank you, Bono and @u2 for making my birthday extra special," she declared.
While in his own Instagram post, Patrick shared that he played several more tunes for Dolly on Monday.
"I played uilleann pipes and bagpipes (madness, I know) but it was well received. I also presented her with a pint of Guinness. There was even time for a nice chat. She was exactly who you'd hope she'd be. Happy 80th Birthday Dolly!" he added.
Bono, 65, has not yet commented on what inspired him to organise the memorable gift.
